UP Girls Basketball Super 10 Rankings 3/22/26

1. Ishpeming (25-3)

An incredible D4 run through blizzards, set backs, and 3 games in 4 days. Toss up to put them or Negaunee here. They split the season series.

2. Negaunee (23-2)

Miners fell off at the end of that Petoskey game, but the resume is strong. Beating Lillie Johnson & Gladstone three times in one season is impressive. Also took down Ish, Kingsford, ETC and Houghton twice.

3. Gladstone (19-5)

The Braves had an incredible yr that included wins over Ishpeming, Kingsford, and Menominee.

4. Ewen Trout Creek (22-4)

The Panthers gave Ishpeming their second toughest game. Outside of Morenci and Ishpeming you could make a strong case theyre the #3 team in the state for div 4. I believe they would likely beat anyone outside those 2 teams. Avenging their reg season loss to a hot L'Anse team was big.

5. L'Anse (20-4)

L'Anse soared as high as #2 on this list at one point. They beat Houghton, ETC, and Baraga by double digits during their peak. They may be the team to make a D4 run in 2027.

6. Houghton (17-7)

This was the hottest team to end the regular season, beating ETC and Ishpeming. Though they ran into a buzzsaw in Negaunee, those 2 wins build the resume enough to put them at 6. They werent always consistent, but they ended strong

7. Sault Ste Marie (18-5)

Hard team to rank, but they very well couldve ended up in the quarterfinals. A narrow 2 pt loss to Petoskey showed how good this team was. Lots of good non UP wins like Ludington and Cadillac.

8. Kingsford (15-6)

Had a big winning streak after a slow start to the season and almost got past Gladstone in the post season, losing by just 1. Took down Menominee twice and Norway.

9. Menominee (18-7)

A fun run in Div 3 that got them to the Regionals, 57-40 loss to Roscommon. Freeland and Houghton were their best wins of the season. Despite one of the deeper UP runs, the Maroons were just 2-6 against teams with a winning record

10. Baraga (20-4)

Vikings gave L'Anse everything they could handle in the post season, but came up short. Best wins were L'Anse (reg season), Hancock, and Norway. A great season for the Vikings, as has become the standard, but a tier below the elites in D4.
