WHO WE ARE:
Like the Upper Peninsula, Beyond The Bridge knows what it means to be overlooked.
Built independently as a one-man operation, this platform was created to tell the stories of others that often pass by — the athletes, programs, rivalries, history, and communities that deserve more than just a final score.
While bigger outlets chase bigger markets, Beyond The Bridge is focused on what matters here.
Underdogs. Identity. Stories worth telling.
THE STORY
After serving as the content creator for Hematite Nation from 2015–2020, a bigger vision took shape — not just to celebrate one town, but to create a platform for the entire Upper Peninsula.
That vision became Beyond The Bridge on December 26, 2025.
Built and operated independently, this site reflects a personal belief in how the U.P. should be represented: with pride, depth, and a standard that matches the passion of its people.
Raised in Ishpeming and shaped by U.P. sports culture, I grew up seeing firsthand the grit, pride, and chip-on-your-shoulder mentality that makes this region different.
In 1995 as a young child, I traveled with my family to watch Ishpeming basketball win a state championship. Even then, it was clear those trips below the bridge meant more than a game.
They meant identity. They meant proving something. They meant representing home.
After being told there was no real media market worth building in the Upper Peninsula, I wanted to prove the opposite.
This community is hungry to connect, celebrate, and share the stories that make it different.
Stories that open conversations between towns. Stories that build pride across county lines. Stories that remind people what makes this place special.
Because in the U.P., when one community wins, everybody wins.
