UP Boys Super 10 Basketball Rankings 3/14/26

1. Menominee (23-5)

An amazing run to the D3 Final 4 defeating Westwood, Elk Rapids, and Beal City along the way. Ran out of gas against ATAP, but that ATAP team might just be one of the better in the state regardless of class. With a sweep of Marquette this year, and their run to the Bres, they deserve the #1 spot in the final super 10

2. Marquette (18-8)

The Sentinels finished the season winning 8 of 9, won a regional title in division 1, beat two really good teams in Traverse City West and Mt. Pleasant. Had an opportunity to play the #1 overall team in Michigan (Rockford) and losing by 19 is no embarrassment to the UP at all. Why are they here despite 8 losses? 8-3 vs. the other teams in this top 10.

3. Westwood (23-2)

The Patriots finished the season strong, and unfortunately ran into a Menominee team that got hot at the right time. That 59-46 game was much closer than it looked as Westwood uncharacteristically unraveled a bit at the end. We knew the winner of that game was going to the Breslin, and I stand by the fact that the 2 of the best 5 teams in D3 were in the UP. Had Westwood snuck past the Maroons, there's no doubt they would've occupied Menominee's spot at the Breslin

4. Dollar Bay (24-3)

After an upset loss to Baraga in the regular season, many wrote them off as a team that would come out of the UP, but they did what they've done all year, respond well to adversity. Shut down a good shooting North Dickinson team and then made a comeback to end Pickford's undefeated season. Dollar Bay showed resilience all year and deserves the honor of a top 5 spot in the UP- regardless of class. Detroit Douglass plays at a D1 level, masked as a D4 team, and the Bolts had a shot almost til the very end. No shame there.

5. Kingsford (17-7)

Flivvers played a very good Ludington 24-2 team competitively and lost by 8 points. While it wasn't last year, they certainly showed throughout the season how good they could be- with wins over Menominee and Elk Rapids, who both made runs.

6. Pickford (25-1)

They had Dollar Bay right where they wanted them, but couldn't close. This as a strong year of top heavy D4 teams, and Pickford is here in a very close tier with the others.

7. North Dickinson (21-4)

The Nordics handled Forest Park twice this year, and shot lights out against them in the regionals. After back to back blow out losses to Marquette and Forest Park, this team really turned a corner winning 8 of 9- including beating a good L'Anse by 32. When this team was on, they shot better than almost anyone in the UP.

8. Forest Park (19-5)

It's all about match ups and they just caught North Dickinson on a night where they didn't execute like they normally do, and the Nordics couldn't miss. It happens. Still, their overall body of work this season more than justified anyone who picked them to go to the Breslin. Some may still argue they were the best D4 team that had an off night, but it's a moot point now. I contemplated still putting Forest Park ahead of North Dickinson when looking at the resumes, but ultimately decided the 2 losses to them keep them here in a close tier of 5-8 teams.

9. Gladstone (13-11)

It was an up and down season for sure, but they hung tough in a lot of games down the stretch and could've been a 15-win team with a few more breaks.

10. Baraga (16-7)

Finished the season winning 7 of 8 games, including an upset over Dollar Bay and the district buzzer-beater vs. L'Anse. Had they snuck by the Bolts again, who knows what kind of run they could have gone on?
